Dr Kalai Kanaganathan is an Emergency Physician at The Northern Hospital, Melbourne, where he serves on the Emergency Department Ultrasound Faculty. A skilled proceduralist and educator, he performs ultrasound-guided regional anaesthetic blocks in the Emergency Department on a regular basis, and is passionate about embedding point-of-care regional anaesthesia into everyday emergency practice. His interests include emergency department ultrasound, regional anaesthesia, procedural pain management, and clinical education. He holds a Master of Clinical Ultrasound from the University of Melbourne and is CCPU accredited through ASUM. Kalai brings a strong emergency-medicine perspective to CRAM, teaching from the standpoint of a clinician who uses these blocks in real time, under real department pressures.
